Brandywine Valley Driving Tour
The Brandywine Valley encompasses an area of rolling countryside set about 4 miles outside the city of Philadelphia. Éleuthère Irénée du Pont de Nemoursmoved here in 1800 to establish the first gunpowder mill, and since that time many descendants of du Pont have built country homes and mansions, and, of course, the du Pont company prospered in the area. In addition, this is where N.C. Wyeth called home, and his art and that of his son Andrew and grandson Jamie are housed at the Brandywine River Museum, idyllically situated on the banks of the Brandywine Creek. As if that’s not enough, the Battle of Brandywine was fought here on September 11, 1777, and your tour can include a drive around the battlefield site.
A great way to see Brandywine Valley attractions.
